What waits out there.

One planet with nothing on it. A galaxy already in motion. Neighbours who got here first. This is what you can expect from AstroExpanse. The rest is yours to find.

01 / Your planet

It starts with one rock.

Mines, power, a shipyard, a lab: the classic loop on the original economy. Your colony is a 3D scene, and everything you build stands on its surface.

  • 41 buildings, ships, defences and technologies, plus the Recycler, Lunar Base and Sensor Phalanx
  • Queues finish on screen, with no refresh
  • The Warden, your colony's machine mind, walks you through the first week with quests and rewards. You can dismiss it, though it has a lot to say

This planet has done nothing for four billion years. Let us end the streak.

— The Warden

02 / The galaxy

Every light is a place.

A spiral galaxy you fly through, from its arms down into a single system. Every star is a real kind of star: its class sets its colour, its size and how much your solar satellites yield around it.

  • Dive from the galaxy into a system, and climb back out
  • Red dwarfs, blue supergiants and everything between
  • Prefer lists? The classic system table is one click away

At the centre there is something that gives off no light at all.

03 / Neighbours

You are not the first one here.

Six Houses of a fallen empire settle near new commanders while a universe is young. They are computer-controlled, always marked as a House, and they build, scout and keep a fleet like anyone else.

  • They remember who raided them, and they answer
  • Pirates strike from havens in black holes, only within their reach
  • And other commanders: alliances, chat channels and private messages

A House sleeps at night. Mostly.

  1. Oran
  2. Vey
  3. Tessaly
  4. Durance
  5. Ilmarch
  6. Morrow

04 / Fleets

Send something. Watch it go.

Seven missions: attack, espionage, transport, deploy, colonise, harvest and reinforce. Pick a target on the star map, see who owns it, load the holds, and know the distance, timing and fuel before you launch.

  • Probes bring back what is there
  • Incoming fleets show up early; how much you see depends on your Espionage Technology
  • Raids can fly out with cargo aboard, and every load takes dock time

Small, cheap and curious.

— The Warden, on espionage probes

05 / Combat

It isn't over when they arrive.

A battle plays out over several minutes, in phases, and you can watch it in 3D. While it lasts, send reinforcements or pull your fleet out.

  • Different ships dominate different phases. Which ones, you find out
  • The simulator shows the range of likely outcomes before you commit
  • Every fight is seeded and recorded on the server

They came, they shot, they left with less than they brought.

06 / Aftermath

What is left after.

Destroyed ships leave debris fields, and recyclers harvest them. A big enough battle can leave something bigger behind.

  • Moons, and what a Sensor Phalanx can see from one

07 / The finale In development

Every universe has an ending.

Universes run in seasons. Late in one, the Abyss stirs, and alliances race to build a Gate at the black hole in the middle of the galaxy. How it ends, you will have to see.

08 / Fair play

Nothing for sale wins a fight.

AstroExpanse is free to play. Money buys cosmetics and conveniences, never power, resources or speed.

  • New players are protected for their first week, or until they outgrow the beginner bracket
  • Vacation mode that really freezes your empire
  • In your browser, and on your phone too
  • In English, Czech and Slovak
