Command the galaxy as it happens.
The browser space strategy a generation grew up on, rebuilt from scratch. Fleets land on screen, battles play out while you watch, and nothing for sale wins a fight.

01 / The loop
Rebuilt, not reskinned.
If you played OGame or one of its many cousins, you already know how to play. Here is what changed underneath.
| The classic formula | AstroExpanse | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Seeing what happened | Refresh the page | Queues, fleets, reports and chat arrive live, with no refresh | Live in alpha |
| Battles | Over the moment the fleets arrive | Play out over minutes: retreat or send reinforcements mid-fight | Live in alpha |
| The galaxy | Pages of coordinates | A spiral galaxy you fly through, and the classic table when you want speed | Live in alpha |
| Your planet | A list of buildings | A colony you can look at, growing as you build | Live in alpha |
| Money | Premium currency buys resources and time | Free to play. Cosmetics and conveniences: nothing for sale wins a fight | Live in alpha |
| A universe | Runs until everyone quits | Ends in a race to build a Gate at the Abyss | In development |
02 / Combat
Battles you fight, not just read.
In the classic games a fight is over the moment the fleets arrive, and a report tells you how it went. Here it plays out, and you are still in it.
Live, round by round Live in alpha
A battle runs over several minutes. While it lasts, send reinforcements or pull your fleet out.
Composition matters Live in alpha
Fights run in phases, and different ships dominate different phases.
Simulate before you commit Live in alpha
The built-in simulator shows the range of likely outcomes. No external calculator needed.
03 / The fleet
The whole classic tree. Every ship you remember.
41 buildings, ships, defences and technologies on the original economy: costs, production and travel times, as you remember them.

04 / Moons
A big enough battle leaves a moon behind.
The wreckage of a large fight can pull together into a moon over the planet. Claim it and it is a place of its own: its own ground, its own base and its own fleet, under a black sky with the planet hanging over the horizon.

Born from battle Live in alpha
The bigger the fight over a planet, the better the chance that what is left becomes a moon.
A colony overhead Live in alpha
Stand on your moon and build on it: a Lunar Base at the centre, factories, a shipyard. It mines nothing, so nothing on it is ever capped.
Its own fleet Live in alpha
Ships built on a moon launch from the moon. Send a fleet between moon and planet as you would to any other target.
Watch the lanes Live in alpha
A Sensor Phalanx reads the traffic of the planets in its range, straight from the star map.
05 / The finale In development
Something at the core is waking.
A universe runs in seasons. Late in a season the Abyss stirs, and alliances race to build a Gate at the black hole in the middle of the galaxy. One alliance finishes it. Then a new universe opens.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. AstroExpanse is free to play. We will sell cosmetics and conveniences, never resources, build time or combat power.
Is it an OGame clone?
It belongs to the same tradition: persistent, time-based space strategy in the browser. It is built from scratch on a new engine, with an interface that updates live and battles that play out instead of arriving as a report.
When can I play?
The test universe First Light is open from Fri 16 Oct at 18:00 CEST until Sat 19 Dec. Create an account with Play now; no invite needed. The launch universe, Solstice, opens on Sat 12 Dec.
Can I play on my phone?
The game runs in any modern browser, so you can play on your phone. Native iOS and Android apps are planned.
I already have an account. Where do I sign in?
Use Sign in at the top of the page. It takes you straight into the game, and if you are still signed in there, straight to your empire.
